Start getting those chops back in shape!!!!!!!!!!! It has been approved for us to have an Alumni Band at the SHS Centennial Celebration on March 29, 2009. As many of you may be aware, our alma mater is turning 100!!!! On March 29, 2009, there will be a huge celebration of this occasion. They will have many activities scheduled throughout the day. Since there were talks on here about a "Band Reunion" I asked the Centennial Committee if it was possible for us to try and get something together for an Alumni Band. I have not worked out ANY details as of yet but I just got an email from Mrs. Manetta saying that Mr. Percy (the principal now) approved my request. This will be a HUGE undertaking and we will need LOTS of people involved. Please contact any fellow band members from when you were in school and let them know about this!!

I will keep you posted as more becomes available. I am planning to post copies of music somewhere once, it is decided upon. I will work closely with the current band director (Val Esotquie - not sure about the spelling of her last name) and ask Mr. J to get involved.

Dear All,
Brennan Andrew Cry was born on Saturday March 29, 2008 at 3:07 P.M. CST. He weighed in at 7 pounds 13 ounces. Mother and son are doing quite well. As you can see from the pictures, he is a beautiful little boy.

As my good friend John Besh put it so aptly earlier this evening, “I am so glad this beautiful baby boy looks like his mother.”

Thanks to each and every one of you for the numerous prayers and best wishes that did, I feel, allow for the safe arrival of our little one. More news will surely follow! This gets better every day!

Well the reunion looked like fun. Sad I missed it, but 5 kids and hubby keep me busy. You all knew me as KATHY FRENCH. I was pretty much friends with all walks of life. I have been around the world literally. I have lived everywhere, the best being AUSTRALIA but am glad to be BACK in the USA for the past 7 years. I am a web designer and my hubby works for TOYOTA MANUFACTURING here in INDIANA. Yes I am not a SOUTHERN girl anymore I am a mid western HOOSIER.*LOL* My oldest is 12,youngest 2. MY husband is from TURKEY he has been stateside 6 years. How we met? INTERNET ICQ. Imagine that. Anyway glad fun was had by all. I will post pics soon.

I wanted to say thank you so much for your help with the last trip. Thank you, thank you, and thank you!!! WOW! I am so excited about all that WE can do for these kids and their families!!!

We are believing for monthly supporters so that we don't have to keep asking for money, but until then we are only letting the needs be known! Please never feel pressured in any way. We received the funds that we needed last time thanks to a couple of my old high school buddies. Monica, Heidi, as well as Andy and other friends were huge blessings - and the list goes on. All of you guys are great! In the photos you can see that we are feeding over 100 men, women and children.

It was like a miracle - one pot feeds almost 100 people total - in fact, we think that it was about 120 because that is how many plates we had and we ran out. We had two pots of rice and beans and one pot of beef. This was more then enough, just as when Jesus fed the 5000. Smile. It was great, and I will write more about this last trip in future emails.

CRUCIAL - Giving Classmates

I am so excited about what God is doing in the ministry that He has given my wife and I in the Dominican Republic! Three more children have come to the Lord this past week - which makes 113 people who have come to the Lord in the last two months and one week. Every week we have over 48 children coming to our Sunday school class on Saturday where we give them each some juice and a cookie, but most importantly the word of God. My wife teaches an interactive lesson that engages the kids, with activities such as coloring and drama - allowing them to act out what they have learned. After all, learning the scriptures is more than just memorization. The mothers have been so impressed by the children that five of them recently came to one of the meetings as well, they said that they need the word of God also. My wife's mother said that one of those women gave her life to the Lord as well.

We are building relationships with our Dominican community and our is the first and second commandments - loving God and loving people and the Great Commission. We are making disciples and teaching them to walk in love and obedience to the word of God. The focus of the upcoming 10-day trip will be establishing relationships with other local ministry and leaders to help us in our efforts. We would like you to join our family of partners as we work collectively in pray, vision, and resources. Together we will change our world!

This is a time when finances are tight for many, but that is all the more reason to sow into fruitful ground. This Wednesday My pastor taught on seed, t-i-m-e, and then harvest (Genesis 8:22). We need to be seed sensitive and harvest minded - to know what seed God wants us to sow and what ground we are sowing into, because only sowing in good ground will bring forth a bountiful harvest.

Dear Friends,

It is my pleasure as Chief Executive Officer of The Adrenoleukodystrophy Foundation to contact you today.

In March of last year, I was contacted by an ALD mother in Massachusetts. Jaimie Beurklian’s son AJ was diagnosed with ALD and Jaimie was beside herself with grief over what AJ was facing in his battle against the illness. I did my best to assist her in understanding the course that the disease would take. As you can imagine, it was a difficult conversation filled with the devastating reality that AJ would be overwhelmed by ALD. The most important thing I communicated was that life should be about quality. Jaimie was a single mother of three boys. Blake and William, while also predisposed to ALD, had shown no signs of development. “Making sure AJ can feel the love you have for him is essential while there is still time left.” Of all of the conversations I have had with families about ALD the one we shared was no more remarkable than any other. Before I hung up I told Jaimie that I would be there to offer whatever I could should she need help. As we hung up, I wondered whether I would hear back from her again or not.

I was contacted in November by Jaimie’s aunt, Beverly Sullivan. Beverly and her sister Barbara MacNeill, Jaimie’s mother, both work at Harvard University. Several co-workers and close friends of Bev and Barb reached out to Jaimie offering their support for her during her time of need. Rather than asking them to help her with the essentials of life, Jaimie asked each person to assist the foundation instead. She wanted each of them to promote the ALD Foundation by raising awareness and making sure that families like hers would have access to the information they needed as they set out on their journeys with this life changing illness.

As a result of Jaimie’s request, Team AJ was formed. This organization is comprised of several members of Harvard staff as well as close friends of the family. They have lent their support to the foundation in such an incredible way with the hope of creating a legacy for AJ, who lost his battle with ALD in January of this year.

On October 26th, Team AJ is holding The AJ’s Wish Silent Auction at The Murr Center Hall of History on the campus of Harvard. The foundation has benefitted significantly by the influence of Team AJ, in that our spirit has been rejuvenated to the extent that we now see, much more clearly, the path that lies ahead for each person affected by Adrenoleukodystrophy.

You Should See 'Em Scatter

Looks like the reunion was a blast, sorry I missed it.

Let's see I moved to Georgia in 1989. Worked a lot of temp jobs, moved around a lot finally settled in Ball Ground, a small town in north Georgia, almost in the mountains.

I've been working for an international plastics company for 16 years. I've done everything from assembling parts to running molding machines to quality control and I've worked every shift. For the past 6 years I've been the receiving clerk. Now I get to drive the fork lift around the plant, boy you should see 'em scatter when I'm coming down the hall on it.

I married Onesimo Pelcastre Cano, from Santo Tomas, Hidalgo, Mexico, in 1997. No surprise for those who knew me when MENUDO was on ABC. We have 2 darling children, Daniella 5 and Nickolas 6 months, he's part of the reason I missed the reunion. I've attached their most recent photos.

I have enjoyed reading all the postings and hopefully the slackers like me will finally get their update in.

Brad could not be with us this weekend but he sent in an update at the end of last week. This is what he had to say:

I hate that I won't be able to make it. You guys have done an outstanding job with everything. Thanks for all the updates. Just in cases anyone is still posting these updates............It's been an incredible 20 years. I ended up meeting my wife Denise while playing baseball in Cape Cod, MA. We started off in a fairly tough situation, but have been blessed every day since. I learned that even though you may make mistakes in life, God can and will bless you if you seek Him. I was drafted by the Yankees after my Junior year and the Rangers after my Senior year at the University of New Orleans. I played one year in the Rangers' minor league organization and hung up the spikes. We now have 4 awesome children. My oldest is going to be senior in High School next year. My next 2 are beautiful girls ages 14 and 13. The caboose is a 10 year old boy. We all have enjoyed playing anything with a ball. Denise and I have enjoyed watching them grow up. We live in Alabama where I am a District Manager for a company called Nalco, so I get to meet new people every day which is something I enjoy. I am blessed to have Denise as my wife.......she may not reciprocate that thought.......then again she is a Yankee, so it doesn't matter.

I must say I agree with many others that have said we will always remember the great times we had at Slidell. I am proud to have been in our class of 87' and believe it was a special one at that. We have lost some great classmates over the years which is really unfortunate, but we should learn from those events. I wish you all well.

Well, reunion weekend is officially over and it was great seeing all those who attended. Those of you who could not be with us, we missed you. I cannot say much about the Friday night Meet and Greet, as I was unable to attend, but according to the pictures, everyone had a lot of fun. Saturday night was fantastic and it was great seeing so many faces that we have not seen in 20 years. I think the blog was a great way to catch up with everyone and we encourage you to still send in posts - we will keep the blog going as long as we have information to post.

We took a lot of pictures, but know we did not capture every moment of the weekend. If you had your camera with you, please forward us the pictures that you took. I think we will be posting pictures for a few weeks.

Thanks to all who came - we had such a great turnout and everyone looks the same - it is amazing that nobody has aged in 20 years.

Disappointment all around

Here is an update from Michelle Morse, who is disappointed that she will not make the reunion. It seems it is the season for baseball playoffs as LeighAnn Willcox Howell cannot make the reunion either due to her son in the playoffs....what is a Mom to do???

We are so glad that updates are still coming in. Please continue to send them, even after the reunion. We will be posting pictures from the reunion weekend so keep checking in.

I am so disappointed I won’t make the reunion, but my oldest two made their all-stars teams, and the games begin on Friday. I had such a blast at the 10 year reunion and was really looking forward to seeing all of you again. Guess we’ll have to let an update suffice for now. At the time of the 10 year reunion, I had been married three years and had an eleven month old son. Since then, hmmmm, let’s see…long story short…I had three more children – all girls, moved to Tennessee and divorced. I live ten miles from Nashville . My ex and I get along, live in the same school district and share custody of our kids, Harris, Elise, Amanda Lee and Claire. I have a great job with Easter Seals TN, have a great boyfriend (I’ve no intention of marrying again) and have never been happier. My first year here I was terribly homesick but I’ve grown to love it.

I hope all of you are happy and healthy and prospering. It’s been fun to read the updates and see the pics. Sorry I’m missing all of you – please say hi sometime, I’d love to reconnect!

2 Boys - too many trips to ER

Thanks to everyone on the reunion committee, you all have done a great job. I have enjoyed reading everybody’s updates. Ok here goes my story for the past 20 years. Moved to Virginia right after our high school graduation (literally a week later). Went to school for information technology. In 1991, my parents and siblings moved back to Slidell and I stayed in Virginia . I worked and lived right next to the pentagon and was there during 911. In 1998, I got married on Cape Cod, Ma and in 2003 we built our house and moved to Massachusetts to be closer to my husband’s family or was it so my husband could attend more redsox games-I haven’t quite figured that out yet! Now that the redsox have won a world series and after four LONG years of living in Massachusetts , we are hoping that within the next six months my company will be transferring me back to Virginia . I am currently a Senior Security Consultant for a government contractor at Hanscom AFB and my husband is the VP of Information Technology for a small social policy contractor. I have two son’s Shane 6 ½ and Cooper 2 ½ they keep us very busy – many trips to the emergency room.

All of my immediate family still resides in Louisiana and all but one brother are still in Slidell . The new Texas Roadhouse in Slidell is actually owned by my sister Karol and brother-in-law Tracy. Some of your children have actually taken dance classes from my sister Ann-nicolle. I did not attend the 10-year reunion but I am looking forward to the 20 year. It is so great hearing everyone’s stories.

Hopefully if you plan to attend the Reunion you have sent in your money by now. However, please read below for some good news to those of you still not sure if you can make it................

We've had a couple of questions in reference to the following:

1.) I am not sure if I can make it, can I pay at the door for myself and/or my guest?

Yes. We were not going to accept payment at the door since we had to have a confirmed head count of at least 75 people for Pinewood County Club. We want as many people as possible to make the Reunion & since we have gone well over this number, we can open it up for "Pay At The Door". However, please note that we will only accept CASH at the door - The Cash-At-The-Door price will be $60.00 per person. No checks please.

2.) If I can only attend Friday and/or Sunday do I still need to send in the Reunion Money?

No. The majority of the fees are due to the party @ Pinewood Country Club on Saturday night. All other events are pay as you go. Please come for all the events or for whatever you can make it.

Hi everyone,

Unfortunatly I will not be able to attend the reunion this time. I have
a lot going on with a new job and a new house. So what has happened in 20
years? If anyone watches soap operas well, they pretty much sum up my
life. DRAMA!

After college at Southeastern Louisiana I moved to Mississippi then
back to New Orleans, then Georgia then back to New Orleans, then Florida then
back to Georgia, then Colorado then back to New Orleans, and now I believe I
have settled in Atlanta (I have stayed here the longest, 6years). Yes, I
took on the exciting career of restaurant management and was transfered all
over the country. I married in 1999 and divorced in 2004, I have an amazing 5
year old little girl and she is now the reason for my existance and my
settling down.

Her father and I are actually trying to work things out between us and possibly marry again. We do love each other very much. I return to Slidell every year at Easter to visit my in-laws. Although I no longer have any family there due to Katrina, I still consider Slidell my home. I am so sorry I will not be able to be there but know I will be thinking of you all.

Hello everyone! I would like to thank Eric Abney for contacting me for the reunion. I miss so many friends I have made in Slidell. I won't be able to make the reunion so I thought I would update you on my life. I met my ex husband when I was 21 in Chicago and was with him for 17 years (married 11 years). Actually our divorce was final yesterday. The divorce was a good thing for everyone. We have a wonderful son together named Andrew who is 9 years old and in 4th grade. I have been a stay at home mom since I became pregnant. After my ex finished his masters degree at Purdue we moved to Florida. Then it was off to Kansas, which is where Andrew was born. Then back to South Florida, where I live now with my son. I just registered for college to get my Associates degree in Occupation Therapy Assisting. I start school next week. I am attaching pictures of my son and I. I hope everyone has a great time at the reunion and I wish I could be there.

Hello Class of ‘87

I’m not sure if anyone remembers me but I only went to Slidell High my senior year because my dad was transferred to Slidell two weeks before school started. Right after I graduated, my dad was transferred back to Alexandria, LA so I lost touch with everyone. I did want to say that my senior year was my best year ever thanks to the warm welcome I received while I was at Slidell High. After graduating I went to LSUA and met my husband Michael in 1989. He was in the Air Force. We married in June of 1990 and moved to Vandenberg AFB in California and had my first son, Joshua. We moved to Cheyenne Mtn. AS in Colorado three years later and I had my second son, Christopher. We then moved to Goodfellow AFB in Texas and were there for 5 years when we were transferred to Little Rock AFB in Arkansas. We have been here for about two years. My boys are 16 and 12 and we will celebrate our 17th year anniversary on June 30th of this year. Being married to the military has been tough with the deployments, remote tours and the moving around but I would not change it for anything. I have been working Civil Service with the government since December 1991 and enjoying it. I will send pictures as soon as we get an updated one…I just love digital cameras.

Hey Everyone!

First a big thanks to Kim and Heidi for their work on this blog and to everyone who sent in updates. It’s been great catching up!

So here is my rundown for the last 20 years.
After high school, I went to LSU and got a degree in journalism, then worked as a newspaper reporter for a while, in West Virginia and then in New Orleans. Then, I got a master’s degree from UNO, while enjoying all that the Big Easy had to offer. I also got to spend some time in Ireland and traveling around Europe. After that, I decided to become a cultural anthropologist and enrolled in a PhD program at Rutgers University in New Jersey. That’s when life started to feel grown up and a bit crazy. I taught classes to college students and did my own research at Rutgers, including field work on coastal development in Puerto Rico. Then my mom got diagnosed with advanced cancer. I was so grateful to be able to move home and care for her for a year. She passed away June 2001. I moved back to New Jersey just in time for the 9-11 attacks. I was living across the river from the Twin Towers at the time in Jersey City. Our neighborhood smelled of incinerated concrete and was being patrolled by armed military folks. It was creepy. A month later, I moved to a coastal town near New York to do my ethnographic research on the transition of a fishing community into a commuter suburb. At Rutgers I met my husband Ron Mallon when we were both students. He is probably the smartest and funniest person I know. He became a philosophy professor and spent two years at the University of Hong Kong. So I spent some time there with him and we traveled around Asia a bit. We moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, in 2003, got married shortly after, bought a house, got a dog and then in 2005 became the proud parents of Avanel. She delights and amazes me every single day. I’m still working on my PhD, chipping away at my dissertation and aiming to graduate in the next year. I’m also working as a research analyst for the Utah Department of Health. It’s a nice 9-5 job that engages the qualitative research skills I developed in grad school and also gives me a lot of time to finish my dissertation and care for my family.

I’m not sure we’ll make it back home for the reunion – but we’re working on it.

Hello Everyone. I won't be able to make the 20 year
reunion because I'll be having baby #2 about that
time. I already have a 3 year old boy, and we're
looking forward to the arrival of a girl in June.
Since graduation, I received a bachelors and masters
in physics from Florida State and Michigan State. I
worked at the Goddard Space Flight Center outside of
D.C. for a while then moved to Houston in 1997. I'm
currently working for United Space Alliance
maintaining software for the Space Shuttle. I met my
husband here, and he's busy helping to design the next
space vehicle to follow the Space Shuttle. I'm sorry
to miss the reunion. I was looking forward to seeing
everyone. Have fun!

It is not too late to get involved with the festivities. We will be having another meeting in the next few weeks to finalize the reunion. If you are in the area, we would love to have you join us and give us your input. We will need help with decorating among other things.

Here is an update from Charlene - it seems she has been busy for the past 20 years.

Hello everyone. It's been great reading the updates that have been submitted to the reunion blog. Thanks to Heidi and Kim for keeping up with it. I have loved reading about what everyone has been up to. So here's the scoop on my last 20 years...

In 1988 I attended LSU for one half of a semester (whoo-hoo!!) before being presented with the opportunity to work on a cruise ship in Hawaii. I jumped at the chance and spend almost 6 months cruising around the Hawaiian islands. It was a great experience that I'll never forget.

After returning from Hawaii I lived in Slidell and Metairie working full time during the day and attending UNO part-time in the evenings. After several years of attending part-time I decided if wanted to graduate college before I needed a walker to get across the stage I would have to attend full time. I moved to St. Louis, Missouri where I attended Maryville University, a fabulous small private university. I thrived in the small university environment. I was nominated to present the Senior Speech at the awards ceremony the evening before graduation. I was proud to represent the Senior Class and spoke to a several hundred of my fellow graduates and their families about life at Maryville. I continue to stay active with my alumni association, even served as one of the youngest members on the Board of Directors for Century II Society, the university's top fund-raising group.

After graduation I worked several years in the financial sales arena before deciding my heart just wasn't in it. I moved to Houston in 2004 to be closer to my sister, her husband and my then 1 1/2 year old nephew. Shortly after arriving in Houston I decided to follow my heart and went back to school to get a Teaching Certificate. In a few short weeks I will complete my 3rd year teaching 5th grade Math and Science. I love my job. I have finally found my purpose! While teaching in today's "No Child Left Behind" world is difficult, it is by far the most rewarding experience in my life to date. Seeing a struggling student finally "get it" makes it all worthwhile. Every morning I look forward to going to school to see these wonderfully challenging, inspiring children.

I have had many opportunities for travel over the years...my travels have found me in Hawaii, Bermuda, Bahamas, Mexico, Aspen, San Francisco, Portland, New England, Las Vegas....and more. I'm looking forward to my first trip to Europe. Teaching affords me many weeks during the summer to satisfy my desire to travel...I'm looking forward to many short trips this summer.

I've attached a couple of pictures. I'm usually the one behind the camera so my options are very limited. But anyway, one is of me in Bermuda when I went on a swimming expedition with the dolphins...what an awesome experience that was! The other is of me and my friend, Yvette (Maxwell) McCroskey....she was an '86 Pearl River High Grad. She was with me at the Homecoming Party at Eric Abney's house. Alas, she will not be attending the reunion with me. I will happily be there with my boyfriend. I can't wait to see everyone! Please plan on attending....many of you didn't make it to the 10th reunion and I'd love to see you at the 20th.

Hey guys just wanted to give everyone an update on my life. Things have changed a lot since homecoming. I am now engaged and am moving to Mobile. Some of you may remember my new fiance', his name is Royce Perez. He went to school with us until 10th grade when he moved to Alabama. He has two amazing kids, Darian Jade, nine and Braeden Scott, three. He spent the last two years in Iraq working on Blackhawk helicopters. He looked me up after twenty some odd years, two years ago, and we starting writing emails. We lost contact again and a few months ago, low and behold he found me again. This time we I realized how amazing this guy must be to take the time to find me after all this time so I am not letting him get away again. We are plannng to get married in July and he will be at the reunion with me and he is excited about seeing everyone just as much as I am. So until then, hope everyone is doing wonderful and cannot wait to see you.

It is so great seeing all these old pictures. I hope everyone is enjoying the nostalgia as much as I am.

Recently I was doing some “spring cleaning” in the house and came across a box that I have had in storage for… well almost 20 years now. As I started looking through it I came across some pictures and letters from high school. A lot of the pictures were from different school dances and functions and many of the letters were old “love letters”.

I also started reading through all the signatures in the old yearbooks. As I read through them, it really brought back so many memories. . The one thing that I kept reading over and over again were the words “I’ll never forget you”. It made me start thinking, at the time we wrote those words we probably didn’t realize how true that statement was. That no matter what happened to us for the rest of our lives, there are certain people and memories that will stay with us forever.

Regardless of how the relationships with your highschool sweethearts, friends or even teachers ended, and even if those relationships are still alive today, you can never forget the memories of your high school years.

At least I can’t. So to all the classmates to whom I have not spoken with in 20 years and to those with whom I’ve spoken to recently, I can say in all honesty that even if we never speak or see each other again, “I will never forget you.”

When we first made contact with Leigh Ann, she told us that she thought she would be moving to Brazil in February and not be able to attend the reunion. We have since learned that she will not be moving and will be with us in June and we are so glad. It took a lot of searching to find her, but persistance paid off. Here are a few pictures she sent to us of her family. Doesn't she have a great looking family?

I cannot believe the blog space of our class. I am SOOOOO impressed!!! Ya'll are doing a wonderful job. I hate I missed the Homecoming reunion. It was awesome to see everybody. It brought back a lot of precious memories that seem like were just yesterday.

Steve (my husband) and I have been married for 13 years and we currently live in Mobile, AL We have two precious boys. Tyler is 9 and Hunter will be 4 in a few weeks. I love being a mom which is a huge gift from the Lord, and also a huge responsibiliy. Tyler plays every sport known to man and likes only P.E at school. My youngest has literally grown up at the ball fields, and already knows how to play Playstation games. It is amazing how fast they grow.

I am a stay home mom, (who never is at home) and I realize how blessed I am to be at home with my children. I actually have my masters in secondary education - Math, but that is on hold until my children are older. I loved teaching high school. (I can still remember sitting in Mrs. Seale's math class.) It is so rewarding when you are allowed to make a difference in a student's life. I have taught every level of math from Algebra I to Calculus at a private Christian Academy, and in the public school system here in Mobile. I guess I am true math geek.

I have been living in Gulf Shores for the past two years. My job at Southern Homes moved me here. I have been in Real Estate for the last 10 years. I actually sold Julie Richardson and her husband a home.

I uploaded some pics of myself and my two boys, Dylan is 14 and Chase is 10. They are really great kids, I have definately been blessed with them.

My vacation is planned for the reunion date, so I won't be able to make it, but I have enjoyed all of the pictures of everyone. Everyone looks great.

20 Great Years!

Well, let's see, it has been so long since I have seen or heard from anyone. I hope everyone has had a great 20 yrs. I have been married to a wonderful man for 15 years (almost sixteen) Between us, we have 4 beautiful daughters, ages Erica 26, Emily 21, Barbii 15, Maddi 12. I have 2 grandsons Dakota 6, and Damon 3. I did not become rich, but I am very happy. Just blessed to be here. I have attached some pictures of my family. I don't have any recent pictures of our oldest two.

The last 20 years have flown by to say the least. I'm sure we can all relate to that!!! After graduation my family and I moved to Kingwood, Texas (North of Houston). Where I attended Kingwood College and NEC. I got my certification in Medical Office Assistant and worked as a MA for about 7 years or so, then I branched out into Administrative Assistant work at a local hospital where I worked for 10 years before being layed off in Nov.2006. I met and married my loving husband, Will, of 17 years in 1989 and moved to Splendora, Texas where we have lived every since. (Splendora is a small town North of Houston.) My husband is a pipe fitter/welder with Brown & Root and at the moment I am a stay at home mom and Splendora City Council Member. Between the two of us we have a his, mine and ours family with 3 wonderful sons. Stephen (mine) is 22 years old and lives in Beaumont, Texas where he is in the Lamar University Fire Academy, Will Jr. (his) is 20 years old and is serving in the Army as a Combat Medic and will be stationed in Italy soon, our youngest son Derek (ours) is 13 years old and stays busy with school and athletics (with big dreams of attending Texas Tech and playing pro football). Needless to say we are VERY PROUD of our boys and all they have accomplished.

I am really looking forward to attending the 87 reunion and seeing everyone I also want to let you know what a great job you are doing on the reunion blog and that I appreciate all your hard work!!

Hello all - sorry it has been a while since posting anything, but Heidi has had a devastating death in her family and has been out of commission. The news took me off guard as well, and I have been focusing on her and her family in this difficult time. Please bear with me as I find your emails and updates and get them posted to the blog. I know there are several of you who have sent us updates and I am working on getting them out. Heidi and I work as a team on the blog, and when one of us is out of commission, it seems that both of us are.

Information about the upcoming reunion will be published within the next few weeks. Invitations will be going out in mid March, so if you are reading this blog and do not receive an invitation by the first of April, then that means we do not have your updated contact information, so plese send it in. We are still missing over 200 classmates and will be posting another "missing list" in the meantime. We want to make sure all of our classmates are invited back to the 20 year reunion. It is going to be a lot of fun catching up on all of our old friends.

I joined the US Navy soon after graduation, went to college at Texas A&M in ‘95, met my lovely wife Sarah there.

Hello everyone,

I'm looking forward to seeing you all this coming June! It' s been 20 years too long. OK. so I'm going to start brushing up on my golf stroke now so by June I should be a shooting a smooth 150!

Anywho, I am currently living in Tampa, Florida with my husband, Bob Bierhorst, of 13 years. Together we have two children, Gabrielle and Jacob. I must say they are our greatest accomplishments.

I am working as a part time Occupational Therapist and full time Mommy. Bob is co-owner of a company , MTS Environmental, which represents products and equipment for the water/waste water industry. Life is good and thanks to all of you who are helping organize the Reunion! Can't wait to catch up with everyone.

Well it is great to hear from so many SHS grads that I have not seen in years. I am definitely planning on being in Slidell for the reunion.

I moved to Baton Rouge from High School to attend LSU and have been here ever since. I met my wife Paula while working on my master degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. We married in 1995 and now have 3 incredible boys--Steven--8, AdamPaul--6 and Thomas--4. My home gives new meaning to the phrase "My Three Sons." I am convinced we could start a new reality TV show of what 3 boys are really like.

I have been working as a Pastor for the last ten years in Baton Rouge. Recently, I made a move to work with a former pastor in starting a new community church near LSU. It has been exciting and challenging all at once. I am now working with a company, ICF as well. Most of you should recognize the name from all the press recently. ICF was awarded the contract for the Road Home Project concerning Katrina and Rita. I work not only as an associate pastor for Dayspring Church but also the Center Manager for Baton Rouge Road Home Housing Program. I am currently working on my doctoral degree in the midst of everything else. Life is busy but extremely rewarding. We love Baton Rouge. I am looking forward to catching up with so many of you next year.

First and foremost - a huge thanks to Kim, Heidi, Eric, Stacy, and everyone else involved in catching up with and keeping track of our class!

This is the condensed version of my past 20 years:

After graduation from USM, I married Lee Grubbs from Laurel, Mississippi. He was an Army guy, and already stationed at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico, so the Adventure started immediately! Besides New Mexico, we have lived in Arizona, Germany (x2), Washington DC, Kansas, and now, New York. Lee is a Lieutenant Colonel assigned to the 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum. We have been here 3 1/2 years with Lee being deployed for 2 of them! Right now he is in Afghanistan, but (thankfully!!) we are expecting him home in a couple of months. Next move - back to the Pentagon.

Lee and I have 3 boys - Jackson(10), Connor(8), and Tristan(2). They keep me so busy that to say, "I'm a stay-at-home mom" just doesn't cut it anymore!! Besides trying to keep up with the little guys, I am a volunteer in several organizations. The majority of my time is spent training new Army wives on the ups, downs, ins, and outs of Army life.

After college, I stayed in contact with Andy Hanson for a few years - he'd give me updates several times a year - but I never made it back to Slidell. (My parents moved back to Lubbock, Texas, their home, in 1993.) I was in Germany for the 10-year reunion and couldn't make it back.
I can't wait to attend the 20-year reunion! Please keep me posted on all the goings on!

Great work on the blog! It is really great to see all of the updates.

After graduation, I attended Centenary College of Louisiana and began teaching middle school in Shreveport. I have been in the same school teaching 7th grade Life Science for 15 years! I am also in the Louisiana Army National Guard Band. I have been in for 14 years musically supporting the state. Last year, we were deployed for 6 months mainly patrolling the streets of New Orleans.

I met my wife in college, we married in 1991 and now have four kids. After the hurricane, my parents retired from Slidell and moved up to Shreveport to live near all of us. I am looking forward to seeing all the "old"classmates.

Weird, small world...Back-to-School night, 2006...a parent keeps looking at you with a puzzled look...comes up afterwards and tries to place your face...graduated with him, 1987 SHS! I have Chris Williams'son in one of my classes.

Still Don't Know What I Want To Be When I Grow Up

Unfortunately, after graduating high school, I wasn’t able to take up Bauder Fashion College on the scholarship. Too many things were going on in my life. From my prior marriage, I have 2 beautiful children, Jarrod (18) and Caitlyn (12). Jarrod won’t let me take any pictures of him, but here’s one of Caitlyn.

After high school I worked a myriad of jobs, including payroll coordinator for the City of Slidell , office manager for Adaptive Resource Training Center and a transactional secretary for a law firm in Slidell . I moved to Fairhope , AL in October 2003 and started working as a transactional assistant for an attorney in Gulf Shores that specialized in high-end condominium development. I’ve since moved on to a law firm in Mobile doing transactional, secretarial and paralegal work. I still haven’t quite decided what I want to be when I grow up!

I’m hoping by next summer I’ll be moving back into the general area ( Metairie ), as I do miss it so much. I look forward to seeing all of you at the reunion!

Jana Henderson Smith and Donnie Smith wrote us to tell us what has been going on in their lives for the past 20 years. We don't exactly remember if they were high school sweethearts, but we are thinking they were. Here is what has been going on in their lives for the past 20 years.

Well, Donnie Smith (87) and I got married in 91. We have 3 children-Hayden 14 ( our only girl), Ryder 8 and Sloan 5. We moved into the house on 9th Street about 6 yrs ago when I found out that our 3rd child was on the way. Donnie has been working at Textron Marine and Land Systems for 13 yrs this past August. They are currently building the Humvee's for the army. I taught at Emerson for 10 yrs. until it closed in 01. I really enjoyed working with the "hard to work with kids". Right now, I am tutoring Homeschool High School Students. Its fun but at times I miss the feel of the chalk in my hand and having a class. Hayden, our oldest, is currently a freshman at First Baptist Christian School. She is playing Basketball--with her dad's height its a good thing. Ryder and Sloan both are attending Florida Ave. Elementary. My old stomping grounds. Ryder is in 3rd grade and plays soccer. Sloan is in K and just likes doing his own thing especially if it involves dinosaurs. Donnie and I have been extremely blessed with our children, home and job. Its funny how after all those days in high school we use to swear we would never end up back in slidell, ect. But for us, my childhood home has also become the only place I would ever feel comfortable raising our own children. Thanks for keep every one up to date.

Sorry we have not posted in a while, but our lives seemed to have gotten away from us and now the holidays are fast approaching and we have turned our attention elsewhere. We have received so many emails from you and are really getting excited that our 20 year reunion is only months away. Some of our fellow classmates sent us short updates about what has been going on. I definitely plan on being there next June. I have enjoyed seeing the updates on classmates that I haven't thought about in a while. I am very excited that I found this site!
My husband Jason Russell and I have lived in Norfolk, Virginia for about 6 years now and resided in Colorado for about 7 years prior to that.

I have been married for 7 years now but was with my husband for a long 8 ½ years before we got married. He is the love of my life still and we have two beautiful dogs. Bill is a 14 year old lab a Tido is a 9 year lab/boxer.
I am a boring bookkeeper and my husband is a video-producer/editor for NASA. I really did not get to keep in touch with anyone, so would love to hear from some old friends if possible. I know I failed PE IV so had to go to summer school and graduated in the summer but still think after all the good times I am still a part of class of 1987. I would love to go to the 20 year reunion! An Angel From Heaven

Thanks to Liz Woolridge McCurley and Eric Abney, I have finaly got a call about the reunion. I have been so excited about this reunion because I didn't get a chance to go to the ten year reunion. I was on a trip to Disney world during the last one.

Well alot has happened in the 20 years since we graduated. In 1988 I was diagnosed with a non-cureable eye disease called Retinitis Pigmentosa. The Dr's told me that I would be completely blind within ten years. By the grace of God, that hasn't happened. This disease has taken my peripheral vision to less than 5%. They considered me legally Blind back in June 2002. By the support of my family and close friends I have kept my spirit up. It hasn't hindered me in doing things that I want to do. (i.e. Coaching baseball, throwing with my 2 boys or any other activities). The one thing I do miss most is driving. I haven't driven since they considered me legally blind. That brings me to my AWESOME wife and kids. I have been married to an ANGEL from heaven for almost 14 years. We met in church at a youth group meeting. Her name is Wendy Farrell (Class of 1990). She has had a big impact on me and my kids. I call her my Taxi or my designated driver. LOL We have 2 awesome boys. Tyler is 12 years old and he attends Clearwood Junior High. Dillon is 7 years old and he goes to Bonne Ecole. They both are playing baseball at SBBA. I have coached my oldest sons team for 2 years now. Both kids played in the USSSA World series this year. I am a Proud DAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Since we graduated, I have worked @ Disney World (1988), medical field in various positions with Slidell Memorial and now I been working at Pavestone for the past 3 years. I work as a Transportation Manager. My territory is all the Southeast United States. We also, had the privilege of donating our products on Extreme Home Makeover in Braithwaite. My wife, Kids and I had the oppurtunity to go and work at the site. Awesome experience.

I look forward to seeing everyone in October.

I have been living in the Raleigh, NC area since 1995 working for OPNET Technologies developing network management software. My wife Cara is from the Detroit area. We met in NC in 2001. We have been married since 2004. Our son Theodore was born in June of this year. My brother and his wife live in Durham and my parents retired to Durham so I no longer have any family ties to the New Orleans area. I've enjoyed everyone's pictures & updates so much.

I attended Slidell High in my junior & senior years. After graduation I attended USL & mananged to make a 2.0 my first semester. Considering my effort I thought that was pretty good. My mother gave me the choice to stay in La & support myself or move to Texas so off to Texas I went and I've been here ever since. Texas has been good to me. I grew up here emotionally & spiritually. It was hard on me being away from my mother while living in Slidell. I felt that I got my direction in life back when I moved to Texas with her. She left this world 5 years ago but she remains in my heart forever.
I attended nursing school here & recieved my bachelors degree in nursing from Texas Woman's University. While in school I meet my now husband, John & we were married in '94. We are still going strong & getting stronger. We have two children Marcus & Elle (2&4). I've been practicing in a hospital close by for the past 10 yrs & recently resigned to stay home with our children.

Traveling Far & Wide

At the last reunion I was still in the Marine Corps and at that time I was un-married. The ten years in the service was ultimately good to me. I did get to see a lot of the world that few ever travel to as well as a few choice locations that also happen to be good vacation spots. Since then I have had a little more stable life.

After the Marine Corps I moved up to San Francisco and met the love of my life, Rosanna. I worked for two years as an Engineer for KLA-Tencor developing new electron imaging technology for use in the production of components with critical tolerances such as microchips. I traveled to some really interesting places with that position including Dresden, East Berlin and Prague. The technological development of these former East Block areas is starting to flourish as companies like Intel and AMD start to move in. I was promoted within KLA to manage the worldwide installations of the electron microscope product line and while recruiting the team of technicians to work for me I discovered the best job in the world.

We got married in July of 2000 shortly after moving to San Diego from San Francisco. I worked for 2 years as a recruiting consultant and I learned the basic ins and outs of professional recruiting. Our first daughter, Madison was born in September of 2001 and in 2002 I took some time away from recruiting to come home to Slidell to help my family with the photography business as Linda's health was declining fast. With a little streamlining we managed to get things in order and things began to run pretty smooth. Linda passed away in September that year and from there things really changed but to make the story short it is really tough working with family. I moved on and started my own photography business with my wife as the assistant here in Slidell our second daughter, Nicole was born in May of 2003 and we moved back to San Diego where I resumed work as a headhunter while we opened a photography studio and worked that at night. Eventually I realized that by trying to have two careers I was setting myself up for failure in both so we shut down the studio in May of 2005 and I returned full time to headhunting.

I am working as a nationwide headhunter focusing on automated manufacturing and engineering positions across several industries. The nice thing about it is that I don't need to be in any particular location to do the job so we were able to move to Louisiana in order to be able to have a better standard of living and great schools for the girls. I am going to be opening an office here in Mandeville for my firm, International Search Partners and I am very excited about that.

My wife Rosanna also has her own business supporting small and non-profit business as an administrative management consultant. She actually travels back to California a few times a year to support one of the major NPO's there.
On a sad note: The legacy of over 30 years of photographic service to South East Louisiana is no more. During the storm in 2005 Linda Gray Photography was completely flooded with 11 feet or so of water and muck. The business was grossly underinsured and is now gone forever. Thank you to everyone who came for pictures over the years it really meant a lot to Linda to be such a part of the community.

I currently live on a lake in a very small town in East Texas. Unfortunately, due to hurricane Rita we have beach front property instead of water front.

I married a class of '85 grad, Wade Bridgeman. We have two children, Amy age 10 and Clayton age 7. Thankfully both of my kids took after Wade and will be tall. I am looking forward to the day I can throw out all of my step stools and make them get stuff off of the top shelf for me.

I am a stay at home Mom who sub's at the kids school so that I can stay up on what is going on. You get much more information if you are there all the time.

A little update about what I have been doing.....

I moved back to South Dakota after high school and graduated from the University of South Dakota in 92. Over the past 15 years I have started and ran 3 different companies in South Dakota and Omaha where I currently reside. I am currently part owner and partner in a business here in Omaha.

I have two wonderful boys named Nathan and Caleb. They are pictured here. To keep busy, I travel extensively and have been a high school and college football referee for 16 years. I am looking forward to seeing everyone next summer. Hope y'all are doing well and see ya soon.

P.S. thanks for all your hard work on getting this together. It is much appreciated.

Heidi has been in the process of moving and I have not been in front of a computer in some time. We promise to keep up in the future and get all of your updates posted. We have them all saved and are working on getting them put together and posted.

It seems I'm on the can't find list. Except for a year spent in Kansas, I've lived in Slidell since graduation. After graduation, I went to UNO and finished with a degree in Accounting in 1992. Shortly thereafter, I married my high school sweetheart Clinton Farmer. We have a ten year old daughter Victoria. Unfortunately, our marraige didn't last and we divorced in 1996. I'm currently working as the Comptroller for a small state agency, The New Orleans Center for Creative Arts|Riverfront (NOCCA). It's a great place to work, surrounded by beautiful art everyday. Working and being a single mom keeps me pretty busy. But in between I also run my own small jewelry making business with my best friend.

I think this blog is a fantastic idea. Ya'll are doing a good job keeping up with it. Like so many others, I found it by accident through the SHS website.....looking for something else. I will also pass the link around so you can find more people. I've attached a few recent pictures of my daughter and I.

I left Louisiana in Dec 1987 and moved to Houston. I attended Art Institute of Houston and graduated with a degree in Commercial Art in January 1990. I worked as a men's clothing designer at a company called Scope Imports from Jan 1990 to Oct of 1993. I left there and did this and that for a while (mostly the things 20 somethings do when they are single) then decided I had better go back to school. I attended University of Houston in pursuit of an Art History degree from Spring 1995 thru Fall 1996. Things weren't going so well for me financially, so I decided to move back to Slidell in Dec 1996. I took a job as an Art Director in a screen print shop in New Orleans for a year and then began work as a Graphic Designer/Jack of All Trades with an independent printer that designed and printed T-shirts almost exclusively for LSU. At any given time you can see some of my designs on campus to this day. While I was working there full time, I went back to school again, this time at UNO. I pursued a degree in Anthropology with a Minor in Biology. Jeff Little and I began dating in August 1998 and moved to New Orleans later that year. We moved back to Slidell in 1999 and married in April of 2000. I graduated from UNO in May 2004. I had big plans to go to LSU for my masters in Forensic Anthro, but in June 2004 I found out I was pregnant! That was the best news ever!

Tyler was born in March 2005. Jeff has a daughter from a previous marriage, Amanda, who is now 12, and we are very close. Amanda lives in Slidell with her mom, Pam, with whom I am good friends. Tyler adores his big sister and can' t wait to see her when she comes to our house on the weekends.

Right now, Jeff has a lucrative job working in the booming construction business and I work full time as a Paralegal at a small law firm in Mandeville. I also sing in a rock band called Minimum Wage. Jeff and I spend our spare time with the kids, friends,and family. Jeff enjoys souping up our tuner car. I also plan on going to Law School at Loyola in the Fall of 2007. Wish me luck! We are blessed with a loving family and good friends. Life is good.

My goodness - we are getting so many emails from you it is getting hard for us to keep up. If you sent us in your update please do not think we have forgotten to post it. We have all updates saved as drafts but with our schedules and blogger not cooperating at times, we are posting at a slow pace. However, since we are so sporadic with our posts, think of it as a great day when you log on and find a new post.

Doreen Mittelstaedt wrote to us and we were truly shocked to read her post - she looks like a sister to her two sons. This is what she had to say:

Well as you can see by the pictures I have two children named Marcus and Justin. They both graduated last May and they are off to college. Marcus is a Louisiana Tech in Ruston and Justin is at the University of Louisiana, Lafayette. I am very proud. Right after high school I got married and had two children. My husband was in the Army so we traveled a good bit. Things did not work out with the marriage and we divorced in 1991, however I will be getting married again after all these years in October of 2007. I have been a Paramedic since 1990. I worked in New Orleans for the New Orleans Health Dept. for many years and then transferred to a local service here in St. Tammany Parish. I still work as a Paramedic part time and my full time position is with the St. Tammany Parish Coroners Office. I am a Forensic Investigator and I have been for four years. I am looking forward to the reunion.

After graduation, I started pursuing an accounting degree at Delgado College . In 1988, I got engaged to the man I have been married to for the last 18 years. My husband, Dennis was in the Navy and we relocated to San Francisco . We lived there for 5 years and I finally completed my degree. We loved the area and there was so much to do, but the cost of living was unbelievable. In 1993, we transferred to Jacksonville , Florida where we lived for 12 years. I joined Accounting Principals, a national recruiting firm, where I managed the Jacksonville office until 2004.

I have two sons, Ian (9 years old) and Michael (4 years old) which are the joy of our lives. Lots of soccer, basketball and baseball games for us. In May 2005, we transferred again and this time we moved home. Dennis was stationed in New Orleans and we bought a house in Brier Lake . I now work for JPMorganChase as a national recruiter and continue to work with individual in the financial field. I can’t wait to see everyone again. Although I am back, I have only run into a handful of people and I look forward to catching up.

Finding Love in All the Right Places

This is me, my husband of 16 years, David, and our 4 (YES-FOUR!!!) daughters. This picture was taken in June at our newest daughter, Ella's Christening. Oldest, Sara 15, standing next to her dad, Emma, Catherine, and baby Ella. Life has been really good. I met my husband in 1989 in the unlikeliest of places. At the dental office where I was employed as a dental assistant (NO he wasn't a patient didn't want anyone to think I seduced him while he was under the influence of nitrous or anything!!!)--his mom was the patient. Anyhow, that is how we met, and it did not take me very long at all to realize that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him.

So, we got married in July of 1990, and here we are today. The past 16 years have been busy!! When we had our children, I decided to be a "stay at home" mom until they started school. At that point, I started nursing school at Delgado/Charity School of Nursing. After making it through my first semester, we were surprised to find out that we would be having another baby!! (A big surprise--but a wonderful one!) My 3 girls had been begging for a little sister or brother so I guess they got what they wished for! Ella Grace was born on March 16, 2006 at Northshore Regional Hospital. One thing is for sure all of my wishes have certainly come true. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful husband and four beautiful babies, the oldest of which started school at Slidell High this year. I hope that one day she will have as many happy memories as I do about my high school years and the lasting friendships that were made during that time. It is so good to see everyone again. I'm looking really forward to our upcoming 20th reunion!!!!

We do not think Liz is scared of the Principal's office seeing how her husband is the Principal of Slidell Jr. High. We often wonder if the schools still look the same. I'm sure none of you ever visited the principal's office in Junior High :-).
Why don't you send us your most memorable moments in High School and Junior High-we would love to post them. Here is what Liz had to say:

Hello. I married my high school sweetheart, even though he went to salmen. ha ha. We've been married for 15 years. We have 2 children, Sarah is 9 and Elijah is 4. Sarah is in 4th grade at Bonne Eecole and Eli is in pre-k at Calvary Baptist School. I work for Dr. Serrant in Slidell. I've been with him for about 10 years. My husband, Brennan, is the Principal at Slidell Jr. High. I'm really looking forward to the reunion. I see a lot of people on the missing list that are right here in Slidell, so i'm trying to contact them.

I've attached 2 pictures - one of my kids ready for their day at school and one of all of us at a family reunion this summer.

TV Came A Callin

Hello fellow peeps of ’87! I’m so excited that the reunion is finally coming together, especially since I missed the 10 year. Anyway, those of you who have lived in Slidell for the past 14 years have probably heard my voice or seen my work on TV and didn’t realize it. I’ve been making local commercials for Charter Media here in Slidell and freelance projects all over Southeast Louisiana . Being a true nut for New Orleans , I was fortunate enough to get to come back home and work here in Slidell after graduating from USM in ’92. Luckily, I got to continue playing baseball in college, but television came a callin’. Who wants to make all that money in the big leagues anyway!?! My wife Jennifer is from Lafayette and we’ve been married for four years with no kids (yet). She runs the real estate and community channel “Mainstreet TV” on cable channel 22 so you may have heard her voice and seen her ads too. Although our house was flooded in Palm Lake , the hurricane didn’t run us off and we moved back in a few months ago. I’m anxious to see and hear what happened to everyone and catch up. I’m sure those of us who are still in this area will agree that the last year was the craziest of the past 20. Hope EVERYONE is doing great!

It amazes us when we get emails from you and you live so far away. I'm sure there are others other than Paul and Robert who live abroad - we can't wait to hear from you. Robert Sloan emailed us from Japan and this is what he had to say:

Since graduation I have moved around having a bit of Hemingway life…

After receiving a football scholarship at Marion Military Institute I transferred to Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO. My Masters degree was completed at SLU in Health Promotion and Exercise Science. From there I worked for the Cooper Institute for Aerobics Research in Dallas, TX and then Ochsner’s Heart and Cardiovascular Institute in NOLA.

At age 25 I was recruited and hired by the DoD to develop and manage wellness centers and disease prevention programs. Currently I have been living in the Tokyo area for the last 6 years, prior to that I worked in California and Florida. Believe it or not along the way I continued to play football in various minor league organizations, Arena football, and 5 years for the Japanese professional X-league that I just retired from this summer. I am 2 years away from completing a PhD in Public Health and most recently I was offered a position in New Orleans that I am considering. My family still lives in Slidell and my father is still a Captain of the New Orleans Fire Department. Mike Albarado and Scott Wadleigh (Class of ’88) remain to be two of my very good friends and we stay in touch and speak quite often.

A Pastor's Grace

After high school and college at Louisiana Tech, I moved to Simi Valley, California in search of work in Management Information Services. I hired on with Enterprise Rent-A-Car and transferred back to Shreveport, LA to marry the love of my life, Melissa. We met the summer of my senior year at LA Tech. After 4 years with ERAC, I was recruited by and joined the pharmaceutical industry. For the last 8 years I have worked for Shire, Inc., Merck & Co. and Johnson & Johnson while at the same time serving as a part-time pastor at my church. I recently made a career change decision and accepted a full time position as Associate Pastor and Director of Staff Development and Communication at Grace Community Church in Shreveport.

Melissa and I have three children - Trevor (12), Ainsley (9) and Emma (4). Most of our free time is spent with the kids in one of their many activities - football, cheerleading, dance, guitar lessons, piano lessons, swimming...

I look forward to the opportunity to see everyone at homecoming and again at our 20 year reunion. Wow! My son was right. I am really getting old! Keep up the great work!

My old friend, Sue, called out of the blue this week. As we were catching up, it occured to me that our 20 year reunion would be held this year. The events of the past year pushed thoughts such as these to the back burner, as I imagine it did for most of us. Thank God for Google; I was able to find this great blog that you all put together. You all are awesome for doing this!

So twenty years for me in a nutshell...here goes. I went to Southern
Miss for a couple of years after graduating, but being naive, etc., I dropped out after two years. I married my high school sweetheart around that time, too. After seven years of bartending made me realize that coming home smelling like a frat house carpet wasn't my bag, I enrolled at UNO where I graduated with a degree in secondary social studies education. I taught at Northshore High (where my students enjoyed hearing about how I was nearly kicked out of a Northshore dance for bringing my 45 of "Eye of the Tiger" to one of their first dances) and later McMain Magnet in Uptown, followed by three terrific years teaching at-risk inner-city kids at one of the first New Orleans Charter schools. While I adored my students, an opportunity arose to join the world of corporate training and I've been in this field since 2002. I am now the Senior Training Supervisor for Medco Health Solutions in Irving,TX (outside of Dallas).

On the personal side, Sam and I went our separate ways shortly after I graduated from UNO. I met Eric shortly thereafter. He moved to Lousiana in 1998 from a blink-and-you-miss-it town in Western Massachusetts. We were married in 2000 and now have a beautiful three year old son named Dane. I've attached pictures of Daddy and Dane doing their favorite activity (anything involving computers), of Dane playing on a hillside, and a couple of me (the wedding was my sister's). We moved to Dallas recently and are still unboxing, so these pictures will have to do for now. I'm looking forward to the reunion and to catching up with so many of you!

Lori White contacted us with her update. We are so pleased that so many of you are willing to let us and our classmates know what you have been up to. We know there are a lot of you out there who are reading but have yet to reveal your identity. What are you waiting for? Someone may be reading, waiting to hear from you and to see what you have been up to.

So, this is basically what's gone on with me. I worked in radio for a few years in the mid 90's. Set up the software and programming to put Georgia's first totallycomputerized station on the air. Pretty cool. Also served as their MIS and News Director. Hard to believe, but yes, there are radio groupies.

I then worked for Medicare as a Data Analyst for several years developing andsubmitting reports.What I do now is I work for a multi-national payroll company setting up clientdatabases for tracking time and attendance and training clients on how to usethem to analyze their time and create their payroll. I spent 3 years based inCalifornia working for this company and the past year I've been fortunateenough to move back to my house in Georgia where I telecommute to theCalifornia office still.

Previously married, no kids, unless you count the furry four legged variety. I've been fortunate enough to do a good bit of traveling, so all in all, it'sbeen an interesting 20 years, but that's it in the proverbial nutshell.:)

My husband is also from Slidell. He went to Salmen,yes, Salmen. Anyway, we have been married 11 years and have two children, Freddie who is 9 and Annabel who is 4. We have lived in Baton Rouge and Florida. We moved back to Slidell in 1996 the weekend before hunting season. My husband is a hunter and a fisherman. As of now, I am a Stay At Home Mom. Our children go to Our Lady of Lourdes. I plan to go back to work part time soon. We bought a house in Magnolia Forest 2 years ago so we actually live in Pearl River.

I can't wait to see everyone. I am more excited than I was 10 years ago but hey, we are still young!!!! HOPE TO SEE A LOT OF FACES AT THE HOMECOMING GAME.

Well, I have lived in Kentucky for about 8yrs now. I married almost 6yrs ago and have 2 beautiful girls, Sydney Diane 31 mths and Samantha Danielle 16 mths. I live in Louisville which is a great city. I received my culinary degree here from one of the top schools, Sullivan University,(#2 in baking and #3 in culinary) after years of working or managing restaurants. Good times ....

I now have my own catering company that I started after I was nominated as one of Louisville's Best Chefs in 2001. I opened 2 successful restaurants here in Louisville and in the Indiana area. Now I am primarily a Stay at Home Dad with the 2 girls. My wife, Connie, works at Yum brands as the Assistant Treasurer for the corporation. So I do caterings for people in the Louisville and Indiana area and watch the girls, a great job!

I hope to see all of you in June of 07'. My family is planning to be at the festivities.

At least not in Eric Abney's house. Eric has been so helpful in the hunt for you. He has kept all of the 10 year reunion information in a box and brought it to the first meeting. We were very impressed. He even had pictures that were taken by Hope Crockett the night of the reunion - not sure how he got them, but he had them. Eric is a very busy man in the Slidell area. Read what he has to say:

I have stayed in Slidell since graduation. After Mr. Culbertson showed me art was something I was good at, I studied commercial art at Delgado. I had the same teacher he did for lettering, Mrs. Beverly Wellmeyer, and she remembered him. I worked in a screen printing shop from 1987 to 1991. I then completely changed gears and entered the Fire Service in Slidell and have been there ever since. I am one of two Captains that run the Special Operations Station (Station 17 on Brownswitch Rd.) We do Haz-Mat, Extrication and Technical Rescue. I still do some printing and graphic work as I had my own shop until Katrina.

I got married in 2001 to Suzanne Ferrer of Covington. We met at the Olde Towne Frie Station, she was looking for directions. We have two boys, Logan 4 and Blakely 2.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone again! Please help out by trying to locate 1 or 2 of your fellow classmates.

Finally, an update from Mr. Newton. Bruce Newton contacted us and this is what he had to say:

First off, I would like to say that I think you guys (Heidi and Kim) are doing a great job with the website. I’m sure everyone appreciates the time and effort you guys and others are putting into the planning of our reunion. You’ll (great southern word) recently mentioned that the updates from our fellow classmates were slowing down so I thought I would email over a few photos and give a very quick synopsis of what I’ve been doing over the past few years.
After graduation, I joined the Louisiana Army National Guard as a means to pay for college. I ended up spending 9 years in the guard (got out in 1996). After the first 3 years of my enlistment, I decided to attend Officer Candidate School and received my commission in 1991. While in the guard I attended LSU and UNO as an undergraduate. I finished my undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering at UNO (did about half the time at LSU), and later went back to night school at LSU to get my MBA.

Along the way I met my wonderful wife (Terri) at LSU in 1988 at Murphy’s (Who say’s you can’t find love in a bar?). For those of you who attended LSU I know you are familiar with that establishment. We married in 1991 and just recently celebrated our 15 year anniversary. We have four fantastic children: Blake (11 years old), Brennan (9 years old), Bella (6 years old) and Brice (2 years old in October). I attached some recent family photos. By the way, my hair usually looks like Robb’s but my wife insisted that I get it cut for the pictures.

These days we are living in our new home (moved in this past Memorial Day weekend) which sits on 4.5 acres on Menge Avenue in Pass Christian, MS. We started construction prior to the hurricane, and we were approximately 50% complete when the hurricane hit. We were one of the fortunate ones because we only had 1 foot of water in our place which allowed us to recover rather quickly.

With regards to what I do for a living, I have 3 business partners, and together we own an engineering consulting firm which employs approximately 30 people, and we also own a real estate investment firm which we just started before the hurricane. My 3 partners run the office in New Orleans and I run the MS office.

We are in need of some recent information from our classmates or we are going to keep posting those old high school photos. Even though looking back to our high school years is fun, We know you want to see updates as well. Oh & Bruce, kindly send us a photo with that long hair. This is a must see.....

Hi there,
Finally got around to sending y'all some pictures and a quick update.
I am married to a New Orleans Police Detective and am a stay at home mom of two daughters. Erin is 5 and Brigid is 11 months. Brigid was born 1 week after Katrina in Dothan, AL. I sent a picture of the family on St. Charles Ave. at the St. Patrick's Day Parade because with a last name like McCleery, St. Paddy's Day is just about the most important day of the year for all of us!!!

Hey guys,

Kris Schroyer sent me the info to get connected with everyone.

Well, after school, went to USM, graduated with a Paralegal Degree. I
managed the Chick-fil-A there while in school, then opened a new one in
1994 and managed that one also. After graduating, moved to California,
where I lived with Kris Schroyer for a little over a year. We worked
together at a Market Research firm and I also put my degree to use and
worked for a couple of atorneys there. Eventually, came home though,
in 1999, met my husband and we were married in 2001 and we moved to the
Kiln in Mississippi. In August of 2002, we had our son Kayden Matthew.
Unfortunately, things did not work out for us, and in 2003, we
separated and divorced in 2004. In July of that same year, I ended up back in
Hattiesburg, MS, believe it or not running the brand new Chick-fil-A
....yes again, who says you can't go home?? So now I am running the
freestanding store here in Hattiesburg and am living out in the country in
Purvis. My son is about to be four in just a week and things are
moving pretty fast. I cannot wait to see everyone at the reunion, I didn't
make it to the ten year but there is no way I am going to miss this
one. I am attaching a few pics of Kayden and myself.

I guess it is hard for me to imagine that one of us could have a child in high school, but it is true....Karla Chambers Abney's son will be starting Slidell High within the next week. I'm sure there are more of you out there with high schoolers and we would love to hear your stories. I guess it is hard for me to believe because I only have a five year old. This is a picture of her son and her daughter. Karla did not send us a picture of herself or her husband Charlie, but after a little PI work (and help from SHS Class of 86) I found a recent picture of her. Looks like she is the still same fun Karla that we all know and love.

Please send us your updates - your emails have slacked off. Trust me, you don't want Heidi calling and hounding you for your information - Just ask Brad Stuart....Just kidding Heidi - we love you.

Recently we received an update from Greg Hartley. We since have requested a recent photo of him to post with his update, say maybe one of him lounging on the La Jolla beaches or in front of his restaurant, etc. but no such luck, so we dug one out for him.

Hello everyone. I'm out here in sunny San Diego California. I've been
out here for almost 5 years. I'm the District General Manager for Hooters
in San Diego. Andy Hanson sent me the blog sight and I was fired up to see
some old friends out there. Heidi and Kim glad, to hear that ya'll are doing
good. It's great seeing some of these old photo's. It sure does bring back
some great memories. I'm really looking forward to our reunion. Would love
to hear from ya'll anytime you get a chance. Keep me informed and I will
be checking out the blog. Hope to hear from ya'll soon.

I teach at Fontainebleau High now with Mr. Bernard - I left SHS in 94 after all the good kids left *S*. After your class I never taught oil portraits ever again - isn't that something - you still having yours - that made my day to hear your daughter wanted it in her room. I often wonder what happened to my kids and what they are doing now - etc.

Let’s see, where to begin…
Well, I attended LSU for a year. I was then talked into taking off on a whim and moving to Florida for the summer of 88 to work at Disney World by my dear friend from kindergarten, Michelle Fields Pierce/NHS-87'. While this was an interesting & fun experience, it was by no means a smart move as I made the mistake of not going back to school until years later. When I eventually did return, I did quite well and thoroughly enjoyed it. Unfortunately, in the last two years of high school and first year at LSU, I focused more on my personal life than my education and my grades showed it. Sad but true. Anyways, it was during this time that my now husband walked into my life and swept me off my feet. Yes, my Prince Charming! He definitely “had me at hello” with his bandana, Cuban accent, ripped up jeans and falling apart mini-van. Ok, I know this is cheesy but who cares, high school was/is all about being cheesy.

We married in September of 97’. We have 4 wonderful children. Three are from my husband's first marriage. Christian is 21, Daniel is 19, Alexis is 13 and our son together, Gabriel, is 7.

My husband is a Pediatric Specialist and practices in St. Tammany Parish. I managed his practice and continued going to school until I had our son. I slowly cut back my hours at work as I realized just how fast they grow up and I sure didn’t want to miss that.

So now I am a “Stay At Home Mom”. I continue to help my husband with his medical practice as well as his entrepreneurial projects. I am the Family CFO, if you will.
