Friday Night Lights

Brandi was correct, those sweet little boys belong to Judy Kahl Hale. She was kind enough to fill me in on her life for the past 20 years and send me a photo.

Jim Harrison found our post and could not believe that picture was still around. Here is what he had to say:

After graduation, I moved off to Clinton, MS (just outside of Jackson) to go to school at Mississippi College and play football. Met Tracey while at school and spent the most of college trying to convince her that I wasn't a dumb jock...Fortunately for me it work and we got married in Dec of 1990. Started working for State Farm in June of 1992 and in 1997, we had our first and only child who will be 9 in September. He is a great kid, glad he takes after his mom. Had the opportunity to get in to teaching and coaching at a private Christian school in Tallahassee in 2001 so I have been back in Florida for the past 5 years. I currently live in Gainesville and am trying to make a go of having my own football program at a college-prep private school, while my wife is the media coordinator at our church. Just couldn't get away from the Friday night lights...

Who Do These Two Cuties Belong To?

Aren't they just the cutest little boys? If you look closely, you might recognize their mother's face. Here is what the mother of these two had to say:

I was not part of the popular group. I was in the band. I can't
believe it's time for our 20 year already. I can't wait to see everyone next
year. I live in Round Rock, TX (suburb of Austin) for 8 years now. Work at
Apple Computer doing payroll. Married to my HS sweetheart with the two
cuties in the pic.

Any guesses as to what graduate sent this in? I will reveal the answer at a later date.

We Have a Winner

Eric Abney hit it right on the nose - yes, they are Monica's children. How could anyone not notice that? Monica and her family currently live in Florida and says she is excited about seeing everyone again at the reunion. This is a current picture of Monica and and her husband,Clint, in Canada.

Reggie Cooper found the blog and told us what he has been up to in the past 20 years. Reggie Says:

Well, briefly: 5 of those Twenty (damn that’s long) were spent playing Pro Football. One with the Dallas Cowboys, One with the Chicago Bears, and the rest in Canada (Hamilton Tiger cats). Moved back to Nebraska to graduate college (Criminal Justice). Then moved to Dallas and have been here ever since. Owned and Managed Gyms. Started personal training studio. And now Regional Director of Security for Hotel ZaZa. Married 7 years, 3 daughters, etc………
Reggie

I believe Mr. Cooper has been very very busy. Hopefully he will send us a picture of those 3 beautiful girls.

Send us your photos - we would love to post them.

Whose Kids Are These?

Take a look at these three beautiful children and tell me if you can tell who they belong to from the Class of 87. I will give you one hint - their mother graduated with us and happened to be a high-kicker. If you look closely at the girl, you will see her mother. Also, the youngest son looks just like this graduate's younger brother? Give Up?

You will just have to come back to the blog to find out who these children belong to. Send me your guesses - I would love to post them.

And Then There Were Four

As you can probably tell, we are experiencing technical difficulty on the blog. Our side bar is all the way at the bottom on the right hand side. Apparently, a picture was too large to post and totally messed things up. We are working on it so please be patient. We need recent photos of you and your family and information on what you have been doing for the past 20 years. I am flying solo for the next two weeks as Heidi is on vacation far far away and I need a lot of good posts. Below, see what Nelson Clatterbuck had to say:

Hello Class of 87,
20 years is certainly a long time and much has changed in my Life,
even from the last reunion. I still live and work here in Slidell and the family has doubled in size w/ our latest addition of twins. 2 weeks before Katrina we were blessed w/ another boy and Kim finally got her girl! My wife Kim(SHS Class of 89) and I now have four children - Life is quite busy right now, but I look forward to seeing everyone next year. I still see a few SHS 87 faces around town at the ball field, shopping or at school w/ the kids. Heidi and Kim , great job w/ the blog page and let me know if I can be
of help. I do still have an occasional minute or two of free time. Here are a couple pics of the family. The one at the pool is my crew and the other pic w/ the
cute little girl in the tiara is my niece Kaitlyn. I will send some old pictures from school when I can dig them up and
see everyone in '07,

Panthers and Tigers Together????

Check out Northshore's Class of 87 Reunion blog - the link is to the right of this post under Links. You may just see yourself there, so keep checking it on a regular basis. We are being contacted by those who have found the Northshore blog and then clicked on our link. Some of you may have married Panthers, or kept in contact with Panthers, so we found it fitting to post this picture from Mardi Gras. Do you recognize anyone? It certainly looks like everyone was having fun in front of LeDale's in New Orleans.

Rami is doing an awesome job with the Northshore blog. However, she needs help. If any of you kept in touch with the Panthers from the class of 87, please contact them and direct them to the blog. We think they will have just as much fun as you are taking a trip down memory lane.

They come from near and far

We are having the best time hearing from you and seeing your pictures. It is nice to catch up with friends that we have not spoken to in 20 years. We know you all feel the same, so send us your updates and pictures.

Here is what Andrea Peterson Larsen had to say:

RACK the REBELS

Rack The Rebels - 1984 Sophomore Year

Do you all remember this? This was history in the making. We competed throughout the year for the MARK COMPETITION. Whichever class won a particular Mark Event would earn Spirit points. Well, here we were little ole Sophomores & we ended up with the BEST HOMECOMING FLOAT Ever! Never before had the underclassmen beat out the Seniors for Best Homecoming float. But we did - with this float--RACK THE REBELS. We actually went on to win the whole year Mark Competition & thus earned ourselves a picnic. We were an awesome class full of spirit-full of fun! More pics to come down the road showing off our class spirit............I believe that is Mark Blake on the rack with Monica Zirkle, myself, Danae Palermo, Julie Cappel & 3 other disguised fellow classmen on the float. Who are they? Anyone remember? Thank You to Stewart Crockett's parents who allowed us to build the float at their house .

Florida Bound

This picture was taken on our way to Ft. Walton Beach, Florida for Senior trip. We woke up very early in the morning and left the day after we graduated. We were down there for an entire week by ourselves. I think our parents were totally out of their minds. I am sure you have stories regarding your senior trip and grad night experiences - let us here them. We would love to post what you have to say along with your pictures.

We have found 36 of you, only a few more hundred to go :-).

Here is another Interact Dance pic. Does anyone remember this one? It looks like some hippy/70's theme. Stewart Crockett (bottom middle) is just priceless in this picture. Look closely at Ms Monica Zirkle, shame shame shame....Just K idding :)
Gotta love it!

Who do you Remember?

We are so excited, we are hearing from people we have not talked to in 10 years. I must confess, I remember names, but can't seem to put a face to the name, so now my Yearbook is a permanant fixture on my coffee table. My daughter loves to look at it but can't seem to understand why her daddy's picture is not in the book. Sad, but true, he was not a part of the wonderful class of 87. Posted by Kim

I was able to talk to David Cry this morning and get caught up on his amazing life. Here is what he had to say:
It’s hard to believe that it has almost been twenty years since we graduated. It seems like only yesterday I was watching Chico and The Man, thinking about Bruce Newton. Wait, that was yesterday….... As many of you know, a lot has happened to me since we said goodbye to Slidell High. Nine years ago I developed a neurological disorder that affects my legs. About a year later I was visiting my doctor for a check up where I saw a group of boys who have the childhood form of my disease. It’s called ALD. The difference between them and me is that ALD takes a heavy toll on its victims, limiting their life expectancy to just three years after onset. I became so moved by what I experienced that I started a medical foundation six years ago to help find a cure for ALD. I have been extremely fortunate to develop sound coalitions with top research facilities around the country. I am most pleased that we have now helped families in forty-three countries. I am doing exactly what I am supposed to do every day and it is more fulfilling than I ever imagined it would be. Last year I got married. Jaymee and I met through the foundation. Her father, uncle, and two cousins all perished because of ALD. She e-mailed me one morning, looking for information, and ten months later we were engaged. She and our son Logan have had an amazing impact on my life. I never knew I was capable of loving, or being loved the way that I am. Destiny is sweet. On the other side of the hurricane we decided to relocate to Tulsa, Oklahoma. As tough a decision as it was, I saw no way that I could run a non-profit in Louisiana. I have advised countless families over the years that have boys with ALD that life has to be about quality. In the interest of quality we are here. Although it will never be Slidell, we are enjoying it. I look forward to seeing everyone next year. Thanks to Heidi and Kim for developing this BLOG. Ya’ll are doing a great job.
All My Best,
David Cry

Hawaii - Slidell High Style

Does anyone remember the name of this dance? We remember it was put on by the Interact Club and it was one of the best dances of our High School days - so many people were there. Can you believe the photographer was able to get all of us in this picture. Look closely, we are sure you will recognize several faces.

-Look how well-matched Monica is with her red shoes, red shirt and red sunglasses....wonder if she is still well-matched???
-The shark in front of Curtis' face looks like it is floating in mid-air - could Danae be holding it???

We are having so much fun finding old pictures and going through all the good memories. Do you have any to share with us?

The Word on The Street........

It's good to hear from some old friends. I'm living in Pass Christian with my wife and 4 kids. I'm up to my you know what in alligators right now with hurricane related issues on the MS Gulf coast. I'm the city engineer for Waveland so I'm currently working some serious hours. I probably won't be much help during the planning of the reunion because of my current work load but I'll definitely try and get the word out to some folks that I still keep in touch with.
Thanks,
L. Bruce Newton, P.E., M.B.A.

Hi,
It was so good to hear from you all. I can't believe it's been almost 20 years already. I don't know how much help I will be in the planning of this event since I live in Las Vegas with my husband and two little girls (ages 4 and 6). I will try and pass the word along to those I keep in touch with.
Thanks,
Tiffany (McIntosh) Drewes

It's great to see that someone is beginning to plan our 20 year reunion. Wow, 20 years!! I don't know how much help I can be other than putting classmates in touch with this site. I look forward to seeing everyone next summer.
Thanks again.

You are Finding Us

It seems the word of this blog is getting out to the Slidell High 1987 graduates. It seems Lee Kirby Loeffler has kept in touch with some of you and has emailed the blog site. We even heard from Denise Hihar Childes. Here is what she had to say:
Hello, Tigers! ;o)
Denise Childs here! It has certainly been a long time since I've seen or heard from anyone from Slidell! I do still keep in touch with Charlene Cafarelle and Shalom Ford from time to time but I have lost touch with most others. You know how it goes; we get caught up in real life and our girlfriends' names change when they get married.
I'm not on your graduating list because I left Slidell High before graduation. However, I'd love to attend the reunion and I'd love to help however I can. A lot has happened in 20 years! I am married to my high school sweetheart, Chuck Childs (class of 1988). We live in League City, Texas, and we have three WONDERFUL children: Nicholas (17), Eric (15), and Rebecca (6). My family still resides in New Orleans, Kenner, and Destrehan, so we try to take a trip home once or twice a year. Once in a blue moon (when time permits), Chuck and I stop by Slidell High to walk the halls and see some of our old teachers (Mrs. Swalm was my personal favorite). ;o)

Denise, we would love to have you and your husband at the reunion.

Hi,
Sounds great. Hard to believe it's almost been 20 years!Where has the time gone??Please keep me posted.
Sincerely,
Lori White

Class of 87 Mark

Okay - so this is not the best picture of our Mark, but it will do for now. If you have a better picture please email it, we will post that. I have been in touch with Eric Abney and Leslie Green Indorf who both played an pertinent part in the 10 year reunion. If you would like to be a part of the planning committee, send us an email. We need to meet soon as there are not that many places in Slidell to hold a gathering, so we will need to book fast. We have inside information that Northshore High School Class of 87 has started a blog as well and are planning a meeting, so we must beat them to it.

I will be trying to locate my yearbooks, memory books and photo albums for picture posts. Please forward us any of your photos. After 20 years, things get packed away and hard to find.

Let us hear from you.
Heidi & Kim

Would you like to help?

Hey, Heidi & Kim! I ran into Rami tonight, and she told me about your blog. I would love to help with the reunion. Please let me know how I can help. Hope to talk to you both soon.
Take care,
Stacy Smith Zechenelly

Wow, I can't believe it has been 20 years. I would love to help in any way I can. Just let me know what you need. I live in Atlanta and I believe there are quite a few people here in this area. Looking forward to hearing from you,
Lee Kirby Loeffler

Heidi & Kim,
Great to hear you are working on our 20th reunion. Thanks for getting the ball rolling! I'm sure it's greatly appreciated by everyone. I'm in Houston and would be happy to help out. I know it's a big task so just let me know what I can do to assist you.

Welcome SHS CLASS OF 1987-Where are You?

Hey, remember us? Well, I have started this blog by the urging of Mrs. Kimberly Ammons/aka Kim Patterson. I know where she is, but do not know where you are. This is our attempt to start locating the members of the class of 1987 for our upcoming 20 year reunion which will be held in the Summer of 2007. As far as we know, there are no specifics regarding the reunion and we are not even sure that a committee has been formed. With that said, if you would like to be in on the early planning stages of the reunion, please let us know.

We look forward to hearing about your life for the past 20 years and seeing your pictures. We will try our best to post all pictures and comments that are received.

Enjoy - and let us hear from you.
Heidi & Kim
